MALEFICE Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
April 28, 2010British metallers MALEFICE have parted ways with drummer Craig Thomas and have replaced him with Chris Allan-Whyte, formerly of SHY OF THE DEPTH.
Commented frontman Dale Butler: "MALEFICE and Craig have been growing apart musically for some time, and therefore we all decided it was a good time for everyone to move on. We all want to thank him for his years of dedication, we'll never forget the good times we had and we wish him luck in his new chosen direction!
"Chris had the job as soon as he started playing. He was our last audition and we could tell looking around the room at the smiles on each other's faces that the whole band was convinced we had found our man. He's brought new venom to our sound, and we're really enjoying playing our music with the fresh vigor and perspective that he brings!
"We all know Chris from his previous band SHY OF THE DEPTH, who we toured with a few years ago, so on a professional and a personal level, we're ready to get out on the road from May, with the new lineup and kick some fucking heads in!"
Allan-Whyte will make his live debut with MALEFICE at on May 19 in Dundee.
MALEFICE's "Architect Of Your Demise" video was directed by Scott Fulton and Eyesmash Production. The track comes off the British metallers' sophomore album, "Dawn Of Reprisal", which was released in March 2009 via Metal Blade Records.
According to a press release, "Dawn Of Reprisal" features "10 hammering songs leaving any metalhead worldwide nothing but satisfied with a mischievous smile on his face! Packed full of "face-melting riffs, fret-shredding guitars and a sense of groove that will stand up against any name you care to mention," "Dawn Of Reprisal" was recorded and mixed by Dan Weller and Justin Hill (ex-SIKTH) at Fortress Studios and Timeless Studios in London, and was mastered at 360 Mastering by Dick Beetham.
Commented the group: "'Dawn of Reprisal' is a massive step forward for all of us as a band, and individuals. MALEFICE has matured a lot in a short space of time and one listen to this new record will show you that. We've crafted our sound into what we all missed about metal. Killer riffs, punishing drums, intense vocals and songs you can break your neck to!"
